What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It

All modern e-commerce websites are closely integrated with online services provided by other companies. As a general rule, Petek Group Digital Commerce does not collect personal data from casual visitors to our sites, but we do retain personal data provided by registered users. Also, there is a minimum amount of personal data such as customer name and address that we need to collect and retain in order to fulfill customer orders placed on the site, as well as save personal settings if requested by you. Some examples of site visitor activity and its associated personal data are:

Visitor Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form in addition to the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help us with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Gravatar is a popular only profile service that allows users to associate a profile picture with their email address. They can then allow public websites such as ours to display that picture together with user’s name (typically in the comments section). After approval of your comment and if you have a Gravatar account, your profile picture will be visible on the site in the context of your comment.

The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/

Media Uploads

If you upload images to our website, you should avoid uploading images with any embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Because of its embedded nature, this location data then becomes available to anyone making a copy of the image, including other site visitors that happen to download your uploaded image from our site. We are unable to remove this embedded location data after it has been uploaded, so you should take care to remove it before uploading if you wish to keep it confidential.
